Moniteau County Neighbors Alliance

Missouri-Focused Programs

We are concerned about the well-being of the economy, public and environmental health, and interpersonal relations of the residents in our rural agricultural county.

Resource Protection

Conserving and protecting our water and air quality.
MCNA seeks to protect our waters by understanding our county ground and surface waters. We serve on Stream Teams and as a stakeholder with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), the state agency responsible for protecting our water and air.

Food Production

Growing a local food & farming economy.
We have the opportunity to utilize our agricultural lands to help “shorten the food chain” by increasing the production of locally grown food that goes directly from “the farm to the plate.” This creates greater food security and resiliency in the county and region, and supports our local economy.

Farming Practices

Revitalizing soil health and biodiversity.
MCNA supports practices that build soil health and increase biodiversity while simultaneously encompassing high standards for animal welfare and worker fairness. The idea is to create farm systems that work in harmony with nature to improve quality of life for every creature involved.
