MDNR Stakeholders
All citizens are welcome to attend MDNR stakeholder meetings and to be involved in decisions related to the waters in our state.
Anyone with an interest in Missouri’s natural resources can become a stakeholder at MDNR. MCNA started attending meetings and learning the new vocabulary at public meetings in 2018. When COVID hit in 2020, MDNR immediately set up a WebEx communication system. By eliminating travel time and expense, it’s proved much easier and energy efficient to participate in MDNR meetings. MDNR continues to provide these HYBRID meetings, a great service for Missourians.
MCNA is an advocate for protecting and improving water quality in our streams, rivers, lakes, and groundwater. We participate as a stakeholder in the following MDNR meetings representing that view:
- Water Protection Forum where stakeholders can request agenda items, and learn about the current issues the MDNR Water Protection Program is working on,
- Nonpoint Source Management (NPS) Forum highlights best management practices for reducing pollution from diverse sources that enter our waters through rain and snow runoff,
- Triennial Review: Water Quality Standards to develop and refine the standards used to evaluate the quality of state waters to determine if they are impaired by pollution,
- MDNR Stakeholder Workgroups is biannual update from the MDNR director, Dru Buntin.
